Throughout the Ancient World life was hard and everyone played apart, slaves and lower class people all worked hard labour jobs while middle and upper class all had time to participate in leisurely activities and are able to buy slaves to do their work. Comparing the roles of women in their marriage, daily lives and what their attire was through Ancient Rome and Ancient Egypt are quite different, yet you can, when looked at thoroughly can see that there are some similarities.
In Ancient Egypt the women had a much higher status than in any comparable empire or culture of the ancient world, appearing that women and men at least with in the same social group, where equal. These women in the lower and middle class were usually uneducated and were unable to study, medicine or politics, leaving them to find jobs in cooking, childcare or any weaving industries. Often upperclass women had most of their daily labour done by the household slaves, this allows the women to go out and socialise with their friends, these women were encouraged to devote a good proportion of time of leisurely activities including reading, writing, painting also spent a large amount of time on personal grooming and beauty preparations.
