Introduction
Bows are tools or weapons used by archers and archery hunters to compete in competition and harvest wildlife for food and trophies. The compound bow in particular, is a mechanical tool/weapon that enhances the primitive technology originally created by man to enhance accuracy when hunting or shooting at a target. Compound bows can be used for hunting various types of game as well as used for competition shooting. People of most ages with practice and maintenance can be successful archers for many years. The concept and explanation of the compound bow is intended for those interested in starting a hunting/target shooting career. The mechanics, the use of the bow, the maintenance requirements, and the safety …show more content…
The bow has many parts, and it must be properly tuned to fire the “perfect” shot. Users must shoot at a target for several hours a week over the course of a few months to be prepared and confident for the upcoming events they face. There are several tools outside of the bow itself required for the process and maintenance of using the bow. First of all, the user must have a release to shoot bows with higher pull forces. It relieves the stress on the fingers. (See Figure 2).
Finally as far as the procedure of the bow, users must maintain their devices to ensure safety, the life of the bow, and the consistency of their accuracy. There are several tools in which can be used simply to maintain the bow. String wax is a large part of maintenance as it keeps the string from fraying over extended use of the bow. This prevents the string from snapping and causing injury and loss of value of the bow which is huge in archery. See (Figure 3).
Safety
The bow was designed for lethal intention as a tool that makes hunting and harvesting game an easier task. With that being said, it has many risks when practicing archery of any kind. Some of the suggestions for safety include:
• Always make sure to have a clear shooting lane with no one in between or behind the target or game animal.
• Make sure to constantly keep the string waxed as it can break and cause serious
