Verma et al(13) said that in Female subjects (33%) in the Coronal Suture - the lower ½ part of this suture get fused at the age of 42-44 yrs and is followed by upper ½ part, which is found fused at the age of 56 yrs

Gaur et al found that that the first suture to start fusing is the sagittal suture in the age group of 31-35 years and complete fusion by 40 years.(72)
Lynnerup & Jacobsen concluded that below 40 years of age there is relation between development and age, but that any precise determination of age in seniors is impossible. (70)
Hershkovitz et al.(27) verified that the closing of the sagittal suture occur independent of the age and it is not good for determination of the age of the skeleton. The results of Bednarek et al.(118) demonstrated the impossibility of precise evaluation of the age based on the closing of the suture. Sabini & Elkowitz (37) didn't find significance between age and degree of obliteration of the suture. Hershkovitz et al.(27), present differences in the patterns of closing of the suture. The frequency of craniums with open sutures decreased continually with ageThe ossification of the sagittal suture develops from the posterior third. (118)

P value for age versus lower half of lambdoid suture is < 0.001as the age increases the trend is not commenced to fused.
Test used is Fisher’s exact test.
Tiengpitak (96), showed that the ectocranial lambdoid suture began to close between 30-42 years and was complete between 50-60 years. There was no significant difference between sexes.
Dr R K Gorea (111) who did CT Study found that lambdoid suture closure occurs in between 45-50 yrs of age
Picozzo (50) opined that in the middle portion of the lambdoidal suture, its visibility indicates in the male fifty or less years, and in the female fifty-five to sixty years.
Gaur et al (72)found that the in the age group of 20 years-30 years there was no evidence of fusion. Fusion started in 36 years- 40 years and was complete by 50 years
In Singh et al (CT) (76) in lambdoid suture they found the earliest union at 40 years
