Studies have shown that only 28% of college graduates have developed fully functional critical thinking skills and yet critical thinking is what most human resource offices are looking when employing. Students who are visual learners for example can indicate that they are good at analyzing complex data and visual images however in order to fully develop their critical thinking skills need to more often than not move out of their own comfort zone. Visual learners can really use visual mapping as a technique of developing their critical thinking skills. He also asserts that identifying and challenging assumptions and analyzing assumptions for validity are essential to critical thinking skills. He also suggested that because critical thinkers possess curiosity and skepticism, they are more likely to be motivated to provide solutions that resolve contradictions. He places an argument shared by earlier dentists that critical thinking is synonymous to problems solving skills but a proper study will reveal that this is not in fact true. Critical thinking may be an important part of problem solving but not the entire process, problem solving is merely coming up with solutions to a task. Critical thinking is deep and involves and involves assessing options then coming up with the best strategies to deal with a process or situation.
