Modern families can be portrayed by the show Modern Family. This family includes a father who has remarried a younger female, she is around the age of his children, who has a child around his grandchildren’s age. His son is gay and married. They adopted a child of another race. His daughter’s family resembles that of the traditional family, two parents (married) and three children.
Extended families include the normal nuclear family, two parents and their children, as well as, but not limited to grandparents or other relatives. The wife cooked, cleaned, and took care of the kids. Simply, the woman took care of the home and the man took care of the financial needs. Today males still have the main job of taking care of the family financially and being the family’s protector. Unlike the traditional nuclear family, women in modern families are either the breadwinners or are bringing home just as much money as her husband or male counterpart. Today women are considered equal to men, in rights as well as being a partner. Women in modern families leave home for work just as men do.
