8. What are Dimitre’s deficits in the occupational performance area of work? Can you make some assumptions about the difficulties he might have in areas that are not specifically mentioned in the evaluation?
I believe that due to the communication barrier and the lack of access to transportation, Dimitre would have difficulties with the occupational area of work. How will you address Dimitre’s bathing deficits?
Dimitre currently needs moderate assistance with bathing. It does not specify what he can and cannot do. To lower his need for assistance the incorporation of AE can be used. AE such as long handled sponges to get hard to reach places, soap gloves so that the soap is not dropped out of reach, and a shower head that is removable can be used if it isn’t already. Setting up the environment before he gets ready to shower is a helpful tip. This is a big part of energy conservation for Dimitri. When everything is in reach the task is much easier for the patient.
11. How will you address Dimitre’s dressing deficits?
Dimitri currently needs minimal assistance with dressing his upper and lower body. Some ideas to lower his need for assistance is to teach him to use a button hook to button up his shirts and to zip his pants up and down. He cannot tie his shoes, so the use of slip on shoes or Velcro can be recommended. Similar looking shoes as previously worn can be chosen if he is concerned with cosmetics. If the use of the button hook is too difficult to teach or use, it might be time to recommend pull over shirts that do not have buttons and elastic waist pants.
