After finding the pearl of the world at the end of chapter two, Kino now has all of theses dreams of what he could do with the pearl after he exchanges it for money. Many of the villagers living in his village are concerned and took interest into that idea also. When most of the villagers were over Kino was explaining to the many people there what he would do with it. “Every man suddenly became related to Kino's pearl, and Kino's pearl went into the dreams, the speculations,the schemes, the plans, the futures, the wishes, the needs, the lusts,the hungers, of everyone, and only one person stood in the way and that was Kino, so that he became curiously every man's enemy.” He explains what he would do with the one and now all the villagers are trying to find a way to be connected to him and to be able to share the great treasure he has found. This helps develop the feeling that Kino must he protective of his pearl to be able to make sure that no one gets a hold of it and uses it for the wrong reason without being selfish. He now must be very careful about what he says about the pearl around the villagers and not to be selfish with his great discovery. One of the themes to describe the story would be to make sure you keep your family first. During the first three chapters of the book you are able to see that Kino cares very much for his family and would do anything for it. “But Kino's brain burned, even during his sleep, and he dreamed that Coyotito could read, that one of his own people could tell him the truth of things.” This reassures the fact that Kino loves his family and with the help of finding the pearl the dreams he has are to make his family better and he always makes sure that his family well tented for. This new pearl could greatly help there family and Kino makes sure that he puts his family first when making decisions on what to do with the pearl and what he could spend it on. During the three chapters we are able to see that Kino loves his family and puts them first, when he found the pearl he could imagine what he could do for his family and how to provide for them, these dreams is what he making him put his family first.
