These three indicators of emotion, except for body language, were topics discussed in class that can be observed in the movie Inside Out. The main character, Riley, conveyed emotions through facial expressions, micro expressions, and body language whenever she was joyous, sad, fearful, angry, or disgusted. Riley used facial expressions like a frown or a smile to indicate when she was joyous or sad while at other times she used micro expressions such as wrinkling her nose in disgust or raising her eyebrows out of fear. Moreover, she used body language whenever she slammed her fists when she was angry, tensed her body when fearful, and cried when sad to express her emotions. This is one specific concept from that topic area that I see in my life because just like Riley, I also display certain cues that indicate my emotions such as smile when joyous, frown when sad, tense my body when fearful, slam my fists when mad, and wrinkle my nose when disgusted. These non-verbal cues of facial expressions, micro expressions, and body language are pieces to the emotional state puzzle and once they come together with a person’s emotional reactions to an event they form a vivid picture of a person’s true
