Eng122 Reflection

It is absolutely AMAZING to think that we are past the halfway mark already. Time has flown, in a good way. That just means we are even closer to accomplishing our educational goals.

At this point in this term, I haven’t really felt that many slumps in energy. The moment I feel as if I’m done for the day, I re-evaluate whether I can afford to make that decision. At that point, my motivating factors kick in, and I’m back in school mode. Actually, I wouldn’t really call it a slump in energy as it is more a sense of being overwhelmed. Take last week for example. I had three assignments due for SNHU-107 and three assignments due for ENG122. The ENG122 assignment was a little writing intensive. After struggling for a few days to try to convey my thoughts to paper, I was spent. I decided that I needed to walk away from my school work and take a mental break. I ended up

I went to the ENG COMP Learning Community on SNHU Connect and found that I wasn’t the only one who was struggling with some of the issues that Week 5 posed. I received so many answers by simply reading other student posts. Along with that, I watched the most recent SNHU-107 webinar with Melanie Schopp and I realized I was overthinking the whole Week 5 assignment. As I watched the webinar, I saw students tuning in with the very questions I had. Oh, side note, if you haven’t watched a webinar hosted my Melanie, you’re missing out! Her positive energy alone will keep you motivated! I love that every time I watch her webinars or read a post from her on the SNHU Learning Community she makes a strong emphasis on three powerful words; YOU GOT THIS! For some strange reason, she makes me believe it.

I want to encourage everyone that might find himself or herself in a slump, to seek one’s amenities throughout your online education experience. I’m finding more resources every day that not only keeps me in the loop but keeps me motivated as

1.Since it 's the beginning of a new year in college, it would be good to at least analysis my progress during high school, check for any improvements, and apply them to the new school year at college. Also this assignment will give us a set image on what can I expect from my intentions for the years ahead. It is necessary for IDH 1001 because it gives us a reflection of ourselves which we can take our reflection to somewhat predict the future in the Honors College. 2.This assignment will make me mindful about the things I write about myself as well as the reflection of my true character. It’s easy enough to dramatize how great I am as a student; however, this assignment is like a test of honesty; it will set a unique difference of my character than setting up the common theme of just a good student at school.…

During the first half of the semester for ENC 1102, I believe that my writing skills have improved from ENC 1101; some of which are getting to page length, correctly citing a source, and incorporating how a quote is related to my argument. I still have some errors within my writing that I have not quite figured out how to tackle. Some concepts that I have not gotten down to a tee must be coming up with a thesis statement, basic grammar errors, introducing quotations, and repetition. I have also learned how to distinguish the difference between a personal essay and an argumentative essay with first hand on the two types and how why my grade differed from essay one and two.…

Short Term 12 was a very interesting movie. It had hints of being realistic, but with aspects where you knew it was a movie. It’s about a group of workers who work in a foster care residential facility setting. The main character, Grace, deals with her own personal struggles while she supervises the children at the facility. I have a short bit of experience at a facility like Short Term 12 in some aspects; I can see where parts of the movie are realistic and where are some are an exaggeration because it is a movie.…

As a first year I found myself being one of the youngest if not the youngest one in ASAM 230. Although most of the students in ASAM 230 were seniors, this course would be most helpful to students in their second or third year of college. The assignments we are asked to read, write and discuss in class are directed to help students recognize their interests. For example, reading about Community-Based organizations and becoming more knowledgeable on how they are coordinated can be essential to a student who is still trying to decipher what they want to do with their college career. Most importantly the paper, What Matters to Me and Why?, is the epitome of ASAM 230 as we are able to connect our experiences in service learning and are able to apply…

When I considered taking WRTG 101 this semester I was unsure how much it would affect my writing style. I have always had issues with the strength of my writing and my overall writing style. Whether it was run on sentences, proper citations, an overall passive writing style, or proper use of pronouns my writing style needed a tune up. After taking this class I have an improved overall understanding of the writing process and how to apply it in different writing situations. Run on Sentences were a concern before I took the class, however now I have a much better understanding of proper sentence structures.…

My writing experience prior to taking ENGL109x was not good. I have always had trouble with how to begin my essays. I honestly never really looked into strategies that can help me begin my essays, therefore I was stuck for some time until I could come up with something, then I begin to type. Not only did I have problems with starting my essay, but I also had problems with how it flowed, especially to the reader. Since English is my second language, grammar errors is something I have always had an issue with.…

Prior to taking ENL 110, I was concerned if I would be able to handle a college writing course. Growing up in the inner-city it was difficult to learn the basic foundations of writing such as grammar and punctuation. As an avid reader, I have had only my ears to rely on to make the appropriate corrections and build sentences. I stepped into the course afraid to write papers, but I was hungry to learn my weaknesses and strengths. This portfolio is a reflection of the progress I have made since I started this course to the brutal end.…

Over the course of English 102, I have developed a new set of skills and learned to become a better writer. When I first came into English 102 I struggled with many different concepts of writing. During the semester in English 102, my writing became stronger because I learned how to incorporate evidence into my argument, do more thorough research, have smoother transitions, and have more organization throughout my essay. I learned how to peer review better and to take what others say and incorporate it into my essay. In the beginning, before English 102, I struggled with good organization and flow to an essay, sandwich evidence into paragraphs, and having strong arguments in persuasive essays.…
