Connections Essay: Suburban Ideal
Introduction
From the 1800’s up until present day, the construction of suburbs throughout America has caused suburban sprawl. Many important elements can be coined as the reasons for a shift away from living in the city to living outside the city. Some of these aspects include technological changes in transportation, poor living conditions in cities, and a need for a more community-focused way of life. Five cities, in particular, will be examined to show the history of suburbia as well as show the relationships that each suburb has had on one another.
