Personally Mediated racism is includes the specific social attitudes inherent to racially prejudiced action, discrimination, and stereotyping. Internalized Racism is the acceptance, by members of the racially stigmatized people, of negative perceptions about their own abilities and intrinsic worth. Low Self-esteem can characterize these traits, as well as low esteem of others involved around them. The embracing of “white ideals” most commonly sees this racism, or the devaluation of one’s self, others, and a reigning feeling of helplessness and hopelessness. Over the years various forms of institutionalized racism have occurred and been incorporated into various public bodies. However it is difficult to eradicate the idea of racism seeing as it has no clear origin; while it is true that racism is learned and not something that we are born with, where it comes from is still a mystery, so why do we separate racism into categories? Racism is racism no matter which way you look at it, whether it’s Institutional, Personally Mediated, or Internalized.
