Elbert Hubbard once said “Art is not a thing; it is a way.” Art is all around us; from the floor we walk on, to the color of the walls around us, to the music we listen to on the radio. Many kids have taken on a lot of different forms that did not exist many years ago. Today, we fill our world with street art not exactly thought about to be art like mimes, circus acts, puppetry, mask theater, vaudeville, and storytelling through movement (Rapp 4). Art is an essential part of our society today and has been for many years.…
Bringing different kinds of art into the classroom will open the students up to the different mediums of representation. Chapter 8 discusses how art provides equitable opportunities for the students and allows them to learn about equity. Some of the many different forms of art that are explained in chapter included stitchery, quilting, oil painting, cut paper, mixed media, and collages. Picture books are a great way to explain these different types of art forms. Students will experience a wide variety of art techniques that can apply to defining what art means to…
Art is a type of communication. It speaks to you by thoughts or experiences you may have had in your life. It can be dark and deadly or bright and happy. Any memory or any moment can affect your mood on what you create. By looking at paintings, sculptures and other forms of art you just feel a certain way.…
I believe that the meaning of the word art is an expression of feelings or ideas through different mediums. Throughout history I don't believe that this definition has changed but the different mediums have. As society has grown, we humans have modified our way of expressing our feelings through our advanced technology. The influence that I had that helped me discover this definition was my experiences through my art classes. As I produced many different art projects I felt that these different mediums of art helped me convey how I felt at the time.…
Art is one of the most basic forms of expression there is. It has stood the test of time for thousands and thousands of years. Why? With every passing generation, we see new, creative minds emerging, full of new ideas and concepts. The human brain will never stop developing original thoughts and new, inventive ways to do old tasks.…
Art can serve many purposes in life. It can be a hobby or form of therapy and self-expression for the artist themselves. It can be used simply as decoration. Or it can be used to entertain and captivate and audience. However, more importantly, art can be used to convey a message that words cannot.…
An artist is who can express his or her expressions through art. Writers use their words to describe their thoughts, Painters use colors to show their imaginations and Dancers use the rhythm to present the waves of their bodies. In this modern world, dance is considered a form of art. However, very few of the people know the formation of this art. All the things in this world begin at one level and finishes at a new different level.…

Would You Die To Save Art? When asked this question prior to fully watching The Rape of Europa, I would have said no. Every human life is unique and irreplaceable. However, I have never experienced war or a holocaust.…
It’s hard to put a general definition on what is consider beautiful because everyone has a different opinion on life and the types of things that they like. As a young woman, we just want to look pretty, dress cute, and look thin. So we admire people who achieve what we want to be. So I know this may sound crazy but I consider Beyoncé to be beautiful. I think Beyoncé is beautiful because she is perfect in every way.…
The Metropolitan Museum of Art holds many valuable works of art, one of which is double sided piece. This piece labeled Self-Portrait with a Straw Hat is a beautiful painting of a man wearing a hat and on the other side of this painting is a work of art called Potato Peeler, which is of a woman peeling a potato. This piece went under investigation for a time being because there was controversy whether it was an actual Van Gogh original. After extensive review, the piece was indeed found to be a fake. Although the Self-Portrait double sided painting is a fake it is still great in many ways.…
Freedom is having the right to act, speak, or think as one wants, and having absolute freedom in creating art pieces mean that no one or no authority can censor it. Usually, authorities such as the government tend to censor art pieces at which they deem unfit and unsuitable for the public audience. The act of censoring is unfair for the artists, as it may mean that they do not have the freedom of expression through art, defeating the purpose of the artwork due to the removal of the main items of the art piece. Some artworks may even be censored either partially or totally although the artist did not have the intention to send whichever inappropriate message the authority has inferred from the art piece. However, sometimes authorities do have to censor, which some adults may disapprove of.…

Art is expressed in many ways. I first got involved in art when I thought I wanted to be a clothes designer. I started drawing clothes and eventually started drawing items and living animals. After years have pass, I discontinued my clothes designing career and change it to the medical field but I still enjoyed drawing.…
It only goes to show that the question that more than likely receives the most generic answers from an audience, can also be the hardest to answer truthfully. What is art? If you were to ask a group of one thousand people that very question, the chances are that the majority of them would answer it by saying something along the lines of “It is and expression of yourself and how you feel” and “Painting, drawing, sculpting, and photographs.” I refuse to be restricted to these two categories, only to answer the same way all others have. That may make me seem stuck up in some way, however, I feel that I have a fairly unique understanding that not many think about.…
