The first thing we did was revise the menu to meet the needs of our diabetic population. We added a diabetic menu with 11 meal options along with detailed nutritional information values. We were allotted 2 hours during the January town hall meeting. The restaurant owner, head chef, and diabetic educator were present to discuss the rising rate of diabetes in Native Americans and what we, as a restaurant, were doing to help make our community healthier for the future. We continued to attend town hall meetings to promote the restaurant and a healthier community. We also reserved a table at the annual local fair offering samples from our menu and new menu ideas along with diabetic education.
A year has passed since our initial revision to the menu. As far as our objectives for the restaurant, we have surpassed our expectations. We had estimated regaining 100% of lost customers along with a 15% increase in new customers. Our reports have shown not only did we regain those lost customers but experienced a 20% increase in new customers. Our quarterly profits increased by 50% compared to the 2015 4th quarter profit.
