The functionalist perspective of sociology is demonstrated in this study due to the fact that once the details of the study came out to the public society became unstable and was not organized. The damage that this study caused to society prevented society from working properly. Everyone was really mad about how the individuals in the study were being treated. As a result, laws and other ways of maintaining order in studies were created so that a study like the syphilis one would never occur again.
