It is similar to pediatric Osteosarcoma in humans. The tumor is most likely to occur in middle aged dogs or if it is located in the ribs it can affect younger dogs around four years of age. Golden retrievers are affected by this disease because of their size and weight. Osteosarcoma can develope in any bone but is primarily seen in the limbs more than half of the time. It grows in the bone and as it grows outwards the bone is slowly destroyed from the inside. The causes of this disease are unknown, but are usually seen in animals whom have experienced skeletal anomalies or non natural occurrences affecting the animals bones (bullets, ran over, etc…). If a dog has Osteosarcoma, the animal is likely showing symptoms of: irritability, loss of appetite, weight loss, lameness, and fatigue due to pain. The dog is also more susceptible to bone fractures and usually has swelling over the affected
