Different test determine what academic assistance a student may be offered, shows where you stand in particular subjects, and provide in detail what can be improved. Test such as the ACT and SAT are the main testing source that high schools use to determine a student 's readiness of college. This, in my opinion, is the least important thing of what makes a good high school. "The ACT is an achievement test, measuring what a student has learned in school. The SAT is more of an aptitude test, testing reasoning and verbal abilities. The ACT has up to 5 components: English, Mathematics, Reading, Science, and an optional Writing Test. The SAT has only 3 components: Critical Reading, Mathematics, and a required Writing Test. These two examinations are both ways that students get accepted into college and other further learning programs. I personally believe that the ACT does not determine whether a student is ready or what they have learned. In some cases, students may not do well with timed test, like me. The feeling of being rushed can distract your mind from the material and force you to just get every answer marked in time. The campus is nice and has faculty members and custodians all around throughout the day. The safe security feeling may not be stressed enough through the school, but there is an anti-bullying policy. If bullying is suspected or witnessed, consequences are immediately put into play. This school shows all signs and has the potential to be considered a good high school. The average ACT score at Gulfport High School and in the Gulfport School District in 2007 was 20.6. The average score for the state ACT test score is
