Pleural effusion is lung infection where fluids accumulate within visceral and parietal pleura of lungs (NIH, 2016b). These fluids will put pressure on the lungs and make an individual having difficulty in breathing (NIH, 2016b). Pain may occur on the chest, shoulder or abdominal muscle if the pleural lining of the lungs is irritated increasing in size and push on the diaphragm (NIH, 2016b) is showed on image 1. Others organ such as heart also will be press and may affect its functional as well (). The risk of mortality is increase with person who having COPD like Dudley. He may need prolong hospitalized period or using ventilator to breath until his lungs can function normally (Boka, 2017).
