Millions of people, including children, families, babies, veterans and the elderly live day by day without food, water, or a roof over their head. Sadly, Homelessness is a temporary condition that many people around the globe found themselves in, especially, in our hometown, New York City. Homelessness is described as a state in which people do not have the ability to obtain, keep safe and secure housing for their basic needs. The shelter system has so many dangerous people. So many shelter residents live in a constant fear. Once there is an argument happening, it is unclear whether someone will pull a weapon. There were so many people who were cut with razors, beaten bloody over minor disputes. “I have to sleep with my sneakers on, and I have to be careful not to bring anything of value because they’re going to break the locker and take everything” (Torres). Many people at the homeless shelter would steal what you have, especially shoes. Even though it will not fit, they still try to make it fit, which causes wounds that make it challenging or impossible to walk. So for them, getting off of work late means, no bed for them. They have to sleep on the floors. According to NBC “Staying out past curfew or refusing apartments offered to them could cost homeless families a roof over their heads, according to a stringent policy going into effect today.” The question is, why would you evict people out of the shelter if they pass curfew? It really doesn’t make sense to do such thing, because knowing that a person has a job, their goal is to get out of the shelter system. Passing curfew is not an option for
