This TEKS can connect to the field trip as the students will be able to use what they observe in the zoo to describe the different animals. I as the teacher can ask the students to write a paper about the different animals they saw at the zoo. I can ask the students to use descriptive words to explain how the animal looked like. Another TEKS that I can use will be, 1.20Ai: students are expected to use this following part of speech in the context of reading, writing, and speaking verbs (past, present, and future. I can use the TEKS to help the students understand about past, future, present tense when referring to where they went for the trip. Before going to the trip, I can focus on helping first graders understand about past, present, and future. We can do interactive activities where we learn to identify how to properly use each of the verb tenses. Furthermost, after coming back from their trip I can ask the students to write a small paragraph of things we did at the zoo, and if they will go back and visit in the future. In addition, this book is written in rhyming form which makes it more interesting and fun to read to the students. This book is excellent to use when introducing adjectives because it gives the students what an adjective is and great examples that can help them comprehend adjectives. Another book I will use can be, If you were an Adjective by Michael Dahl. This book introduces what adjectives are and gives the students examples of adjective words. This book will help introduce what adjectives are as it gives good examples of words that are adjectives. Another book I will utilize will be, The Night before First Grade by Natasha Wing. This book is about a young girl who is very excited to start first grade. The girl is very happy that her best friend will be in the same classroom as her and get everything prepare for the first day. This book can be utilize to teach verb tenses by having the class identify some of the verb tenses utilized in the story. I feel that this book can be a great tool to identify verbs tenses as it talks in the past tense and present
