One cause of the war was trying to create a balance of power. The idea to balance the powers were that the major powers of europe like England, France, Russia, and Germany were balanced, so one country could have all the power it would be evenly balanced. Otto von Bismarck didn’t like the idea of fighting on both sides of germany. So his solution try to make alliances with these nations. But when it didn’t work he made alliances with Austria-Hungary and italy, which became known as the triple alliance.
