The Greeks have provided us with several important legacies in the area of democracy. Theophrastus was the first biologist, we know of in written history. The pythagoreans not only made the earliest improvements in philosophy and geometry, they also presented the heliocentric hypothesis that the earth revolves around sun and not the other way around though it was believed at the time. Archimedes found out that sinking a solid object will dislodge an amount of liquid that matches the object’s weight. The Greeks had so much so influence in the early ideas of science, that most signs that are often used in physics and math equations today are obtained from the Greek alphabet. Today we also use maps to help us get around places we are not familiar with. This shows the strong impact that Greece has had from people all around the world. Although Rome has given the modern world the idea of roads and concrete, this cannot beat the impact that science has on our world. Though roads help people get to places the places that they want to go faster, science is what helps our brains grow to find new knowledge and helps us defeat our curiosity of how the world develops and works today. Science is important because it has helped form the world that we live in
