Although the majority of people from India believe in Hinduism, not all of them believe in it. If a health care worker were to do an assessment on someone from India, it would be good to ask what their beliefs are and how important it is to them. This way the health care worker can be more familiar on the amount of care they need. One could ask if there is a group they attend and how important it is to them. This is a good way of getting the feel for the reasons they may make certain decisions with health care. Knowing that they need a pastor can help them deal with their treatment options. They sometimes go to an Oracle. An Oracle is a person who goes in a trance and talks to the gods or goddesses to answer the clients problems. There may many reasons for one to go to these measures of healing. They can be about children who have run away, bad luck, live stock issues, and depression. The client will take rice from their home and bring it with them. They will circle a hand full of rice around the head of livestock or their sole issue. Then they take the hand full of rice with 1.25 Rs and tie it in a handkerchief. After that the client will take off his shoes, enter the room, then waits. When it is the clients turn he or she will empty the handkerchief in a metal dish. (lll) The Oracle will then grab the rice and drop it over and over to help the trance begin. (“Malaria,”2008) Malaria is usually transmitted by mosquitoes that bite as the sun sets and at sunrise. In India incidence of malaria is 2.2 million each year since 1984 with 293 deaths during 1993. (“Malaria,”2008) Chloroquine was used for malaria to be controlled and is now not effective. People who are at a higher risk for getting malaria are being around the parasite, pregnancy, and having a low immune system. When affected with malaria it usually lasts for seven days and sometimes it may last longer. There is a severe form caused by P.falciparum. Some of the symptoms are fever, chills, headache, vomiting, cough, abdominal pain, it could possibly cause organ failure and death.
