But these wonderful sites can also have a negative impact and can be used to hurt other people. The effects of bullying, whether in person or online can have similar effects on a child. Cyberbullying is a form of Bullying. Hiding behind a pretty screen, doesn’t make it less hateful, written words have power. Children who are cyberbullied may turn towards alcohol and drugs, skip school, be unwilling to attend school, receive poor grades, have lower self-esteem and can develop serious mental health problems.
At age fifteen, I was exposed to the worst form of Incivility: cyberbullying.
