Christianity displays the wilderness as a manifestation of the work of God and his greatness while on the other hand to some people the wilderness is an opportunity to exploit the resources for revenue. Some people may be afraid of nature while others are enthralled by its beauty whereas there are people like Bear Brylls who try to conquer the wild. For me nature is important not only because I am Christian but also because it should be important for everyone for at least pragmatic reasons. We are all sharing this world not only with other humans but also animals, plants, bacteria, and fungi. Scientists are looking for something that is similar to Earth the however there is only one Earth. No matter what reason or logic for the sake of extinction we need to preserve this Earth. We need to stop our anthropocentric tendencies and focus on climate change, because species becoming extinct, and deforestation, and ice caps melting, and acid rain, and ocean acidification, and resource depletion is not just other peoples’ problems but as inhabitants of the common planet it becomes our problem too. The wild, no matter what view or meaning we enforce upon it, will be no more if we continue to push our negligent and self-absorbed tendencies where nature can no longer support our unsustainable
