When she arrived, she immediately knew that she needed a career. After applying for various jobs, she ended up being a waitress at a petite Italian restaurant. One night, she was the waitress of Gregory and his wife. She served them, and they were on their way. At the end of her shift, Eleanor walked outside to see Gregory waiting for her. He was holding flowers and wearing an old hat upon his cranium. They were seeing each other for six months and eventually married. Even though Gregory is much older than Eleanor, they still loved each other. Eleanor did not believe that had had an effect on their marriage; although, Eleanor would soon come to regret this decision. The Abbotts were on a ski trip with their friends in Aspen. Skiing was difficult for he Abbotts, since neither of them have skied before. An accident was bound to occur, and it eventually did. Gregory took a horrible fall and was instantaneously rushed to the hospital. The doctors concluded that he was permanently paralyzed; although he would eventually wake and live. A year had passed since the incident and he was still alive and in a deep slumber. This is the reason that Mrs. Abbott brought the officials to her household. Eleanor claimed that Gregory would be dead by 11 o’clock. It was 10 o’ clock as the men sat silently, waiting for Eleanor to make her move. Once ten minutes passed, the woman rose and quickly rushed toward the table of weapons. She managed to grab a bottle with skull and crossbones upon its front; however, she had not made her way toward the bed as Branigan and another official succeeded at halting her. The men followed her back to her chair, in which she sat. At 10:20 she rose again and was stopped halfway toward the table. 10:30 struck he clock, one man strolled over to inspect the bed, two men followed. At 10:40, Mrs. Abbott attempted to stand but Branigan placed a firm, pressing hand upon her shoulder, making her sit back down. At 10:50, another official ambled toward the weapon table to pick up a revolver. He removed the bullets and placed the firearm back down. The room gained intensity as the clock struck 10:58. The clock ticked piercingly as its minute hand approached the number 12. Suddenly, Gregory’s eyes closed and his breathing expired. The men stood there in the silent room utterly disordered and indignant. All was quiet until Eleanor rose and shrieked “Gentlemen! If you all go back to your seats and calm down, I will explain”.
