Irena and the ten who went with her to the ghetto had many different ways from smuggling children. The main ways are 1. Putting a child on a stretcher in an ambulance; 2. Escaping through the courthouse; 3. Escaping through a pipe or through other passages, underground; 3. A child could get in a sack, suitcase, or something similar to get them out; 4. A child could pretend to be sick or actually be sick then they could be legally removed by an ambulance. She used a dog on occasions but not often. The number of babies saved was small. “Irena and her network made sure that each family hiding a child realized the child must be returned to Jewish relatives after the war.”
