Sports in today’s world, is gaining a lot of importance and is attracting a huge fan base. This has also created a lot of controversies about the way sports is being carried out. In order to address these issues and regulate sports, a lot of additions in the form of new rules, policies and regulations are added. Though many stringent laws are framed, implemented and monitored there are always some sorts of issues in the way the sports activities are carried out. Regardless of the level of participation, some of the players resort to unethical ways of winning the event.

At times many referees give decision in favour of a particular individual or team. But they are the ones who should be very careful, ethical and honest because in today's world, as colossal amounts of money and/or other valuables are involved. Umpiring and referee errors have costed the teams a lot and changed the results of the competitions.
The various forms of ethical issues in sports
• Discrimination
We have seen many instances where many athletes were discriminated, and were not given a chance to participate in the events. They are mostly discriminated on the basis of colour, sex, religion and race. The female athletes in India have already been discriminated in terms of selection. Sania mirza and Jwala gupta are the best examples for female discrimination. They felt that the selection committee praised the male participants for winning the title and supported them more than the female. They also shared their unhappiness over the Olympics selection process.

Tampering is concerned with the modifying the playing equipment in the form of damaging so as to get a competitive advantage. This happens a lot in the game of cricket. Even famous players were charged for ball tampering
