Gildea demonstrates that Napoleon’s influence stretches far beyond his death, into 20th century film, literature and popular culture. However, his legacy has not ceased to be controversial, as historians, authors and filmmakers are still divided on Napoleon significance. Gildea is biased towards Napoleon, as he stresses on the greatness of Napoleon. However, Gildea is able to highlight the perspectives of Napoleon’s critics as well.
