Rowling was first told that she wouldn't make a lot of money from her first book since it was a children’s book (“Biography.” IMDb). Twelve publishers rejected the story of Harry Potter before it was finally accepted (Farr). Bloomsbury Publishing was the publishing house that finally decided to accept the book under their children’s book division. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone began to be published in the United Kingdom during 1997 (Steffens 54). Rowling agreed to the change because she felt it would benefit the younger readers (Steffens 81). Tom should tell the sheriff about the murder. Some reasons are that it is bothering Tom not telling the sheriff who was the actual murderer, it would be wrong for a innocent man to get hanged for a crime they did not commit, and it is also bad for a murder to be on the loose on the streets because he can commit more crimes. Some people would say that he should not tell because he could get killed or because he took an oath not to tell anyone, but even though he took that oath and could possibly get hurt or killed it is best for him to tell because what Injun Joe did was wrong and he should be punished for his actions and not Muff Potter who was accused for the crime.…

In 1997, J. K. Rowling’s first of seven books in the Harry Potter series was released. The book quickly became a best-selling phenomenon and so did it’s successors as most young adult readers found themselves hooked and simply couldn’t get enough of Harry Potter. Although the series became highly popular, it also brought wide-spread controversy with some parents and teachers who were under the impression that the book promoted the occult, witchcraft, and evil. This perception led to attempts to ban the book series from many schools and libraries. I like how you mentioned that Hermione's problem with Rita is more than an annoyance. Hermione has a strong connection with text and literature, and I think the intelligence she gains from reading is a source of her confidence. Rita misuses text to manipulate people. I see how that would personally affect Hermione because literature has helped her in several aspects, but Rita is using it to degrade people and spread lies. It definitely helps further explain why Hermione was upset with Rita and I am glad you pointed that…

The fantasy genre has a great appeal to readers. One of the primary reasons is that “[r]eaders…want something that gives … a sense of wonder, a glimpse at the impossible made real, sights … never otherwise see[n]” Cox says. J.K. Rowling effectively displays this, in her novel Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. With aspects of typical fantasy setting, the incorporation of mythical creatures and magic, Rowling has created a fantasy novel. The fantasy genre has general guidelines when it comes to creating a story for it to be qualified as fantasy.…

It seems an unfair view to expect a movie about a book to be exactly the same down to every single detail. Communities of fans will always find something wrong with a story, for it has “failed” to match expectation. Books are a place where someone can be dragged into the story and forget about everything else for a short while. Movies do the exact same thing, except it is seen as an easier way than books for a lot of people. Ignoring obvious differences (such as the fact that one is in picture form, and the other is in words), movies and books may not be so different after all.…
