Fermentation can best be described as a metabolic breakdown that requires no oxygen and will still produce ATP. The two types of fermentations that the group learned about was alcohol and lactic acid fermentation. The lab on alcohol and lactic acid fermentation allowed each group to look at the way fermentation works. Through lactic acid fermentation, the groups were able to “produce” things like yogurt out of simple substances like skimmed milk and yogurt culture.
