Changing the time would be a challenge considering there are numerous individuals who are resistant to change. These people believe that if we start school later than we are coddling teenagers and not preparing them for the real world. Not only would these pose a problem during school, but also after school. After school, sport practices begin, and if school was starting later, consequently; practices would begin later. Instead of athletes getting out of practice before supper time, numerous of these would dismiss extremely late, giving students less time for homework, family time, and personal time. Several high school students have after school jobs, countless students only have enough time to run home and change clothes before they must clock in. If school started later, an innumerable amount of kids would arrive at work later, therefore; earning less money. Another problem with a later school start time is that the parents, who drop their children off at school, have jobs, several of which start at eight a.m. If school started even a half an hour later, parents would feel forced to seize a few minutes off work, find a ride for their child, or figure out another mode of transportation to assure their student arrived at school.
