It was painted by Leonardo Da Vinci which began in 1504 and he finished in 1519. Lisa Gherardini (Mona Lisa) her husband, Francesco Del Gherardini requested that Da Vinci to make a painting of Lisa. The purpose of this painting was to celebrate Lisa and Francesco new home and the birth of their second son. This painting is famous for many reasons. One of the reasons is because it was painted by one of the most famous painters in the world Leonardo Da Vinci. Techniques that were used was shadowing and this painting was done by oil.

This is such a wonderful piece of artwork because it shows Jesus and his 12 disciples at the final meal that Jesus will have before his crucifixion. This painting is a fresco painting (which is a technique of a mural painting which is done using freshly laid or wet lime plaster.)
