Mark Twain once said “Good friends, good books, and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life.” -Mark Twain. An amazing book uses descriptive words and dialogue to get you hooked. In the story “The Contender” by “Robert Lipsyte”, the author uses figurative language, and dialogue to develop the thesis. In “The Contender” use of dialogue was so powerful in the book.…

Zbigniew Brzeziński once said, “Shortly the public will be unable to reason or think for themselves. They’ll only be able to parrot the information they’ve been given on the previous night’s news”. Mildred watched the parlor families everyday, for years, and eventually grew attached. Her opinions are now based on the knowledge given to her through the walls, which ultimately dampens her views on things such as the presidential election. The Novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury has many quotes that are, in my opinion, very significant. Most of the quotes in the book are metaphors. If you take the time to understand them they can open your eyes to new ideas. The novel is based on a future society that Ray made up in the 60ś. The book is following around a man named Montag who lives in a world where books are banned in case they may be offensive.…

However, while Santiago does go on to locate the Alchemist and achieve his goal of finding the treasure, the Englishman seems to be cast aside in the thick of things. He needs to find the alchemist in order to complete his study of alchemy and understand how to turn metal into gold, but while Santiago goes galloping into the desert with the Alchemist to fulfil his dreams, the Englishman remains stuck at the oasis and is never heard from again for the duration of the novel. This story has had a lot of different point of views, and not all are positive. One of the most controversial topics is what kind of profession did Aylmer associate with; since he was not a licensed doctor. Aylmer is shown as some type of insane perfectionist in this story, and some people would say differently. Aylmer's actions in this short story go deeper than just being a crazy independent doctor; it shows people will do anything to be accepted, the perfect person cannot exists, and how facing your own mortality is inevitable. This story has a lot of character and the deeper meaning of that character will be dealt with here.…
