Longer School Days Research Paper

Some people may like the idea of longer school days but I believe otherwise. Some people may say that longer school days would cause kids to get better grades because they have more time to work in class, but in reality, longer school day would give kids LESS time to work at places other than school, thus giving them even more bad grades then they had before. I disagree with the idea that longer school days are better than normal school days because students will have less time for themselves, they will have little or no time to commit themselves to after school commitments, and walking home in the dark is dangerous for students.

Longer school days would give students little or no time, to do homework when home, less time to play after school sports, no time to pick up siblings, or do chores, and more. By not being able to do these, kids could get in trouble with their parents, and make students feel as if they are imprisoned from the outside world. Tons of students would also have to quit sports team because of this, and other after school things.This will once again, make students feel as if they have no freedom, which will cause them not to do there work, hurting them in the long run.

Finally, the last reason I think that longer school days are a bad idea is because kids will have to walk home in the dark at times, which would cause an uproar of several parents. Not only would this create mass panics but it will also endanger students lives as criminals are known to come out more at night then day. Another downside that extended school hours would bring is that kids could become lost more easier, as it's harder to see at night, then it is as day. Finally, because it may be darker out, parents may become
