The theory itself does not focus on the criminal act, instead it tries to define the reality as a subjective way in which people understand the world (Williams & McShane, 2013). Understanding the world using linguistic is the primary structure concept in society. As we know, in the United States the main spoken and written language is English and unfortunately many of the immigrants do not understand it. This difference in understanding becomes very important in aspects of crime related. Many immigrants and many other victims who do not speak the language sometimes don’t accuse their perpetuators because they feel that no one will understand and they would go from being the accusers to the accused. For many this situation is very intimidating specially when they make a 911 call and an officer or the first responders only speak English making the victim feel at a disadvantage and scare. The new policy that I propose is to increase multi-language speakers in governmental jobs. In the case that a police officer only speak a language, and there cannot be assign a bi- or multi-language partner, he/she should have a devise that would translate multiple language. Not only immigrants work for this country but they also are part of our community and they make a vital part in the economic prosperity of the country, it is only fair that the country give back to them.
