The standard system should be recognized for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the standard system is used in every recipe, road sign, ruler, sport, pant size, and TV screen in this …show more content…
The metric system’s Celsius is also used solely for temperature. In the standard system, however, we have a lot of measurements for volume. Some include teaspoons, tablespoons, ounces, cups, pints, quarts, and gallons. The standard system also managed to use ounces to describe both weight and volume. Not only is the ounce used for both weight and volume, the number of ounces differ too: 16 ounces are in a pound while there are only 8 ounces in a cup. The metric system, unsurprisingly, avoids this completely. The last of my evidence is stated in this paragraph, so this next one should wrap it up.
Hopefully you’re not still asking why we should switch to the metric system. Well first of all, as I’ve explained, the metric system is in tens, so we can easily multiply and divide. Secondly, measurements in the metric system are derived from natural properties (of water) and relations between measurements. Lastly, the metric system uses no terms for the same meaning, nor does it use multiple units for the same type of measurement. In conclusion of all that was stated above, we most definitely should switch to the metric
