Let’s start with type 1 muscles fibers. Type 1 muscle fibers are slow twitch and used in endurance activities. They are the main workhorses in activities that require a lot of stamina or endurance such as triathlons, which require the contestant to run, swim, and bike for distances of 15-130 miles total. Usually the body type of an individual who would consist of mostly these types of muscle fibers would be an ectomorph. The best way to train this muscle fiber would be to build a program based around what those fibers are designed to do. It would have to consist heavily of endurance activities like those listed above along with endurance based weight training. Either the sets would consist of high reps or drop sets would be included to keep the rep ranges high and build a little bit of strength and size to go …show more content…
They’re one of two types of fast twitch muscle fibers and are generally used for highly explosive exercises and weight training such as shorter distance races and rep ranges between 8-15. Generally the body type associated with type IIa would be a mesomorph. They wouldn’t be 100% Type IIa, but they would definitely have a majority of their fibers consist of IIa. Depending on their goals there would be a few different types of training a client could do. If they wanted to train to compete in more of a track and field setting they should focus more on sprints and different jumping events with weight training thrown in for injury reduction, while if they wanted to pursue something like CrossFit or bodybuilding they would gain more from doing weight training supported with explosive
