Interviewer: Natalie Thompson Date of Interview: Sunday, October 9, 2016 Center: Mount Pisgah Middle School Time of Interview: 6- 7:00 p.m. The teacher I chose to interview is one of friend’s mothers, Mrs. Lisa Foster, she has been teaching children for 18 years now.…
For this interview, I decided to interview my mom Lucia because I feel that out of all my family members she's the one that has gone through the most. My mom came to the U.S for her kids to have a better lifestyle and better education. At the end of the day, she accomplished what she wanted because both my siblings and I have had a great education. However, she also had to give up a lot, for example, leaving her family members behind and having to start a new life in a place where she doesn’t know anybody. Another reason she came to the U.S was because of the money.…
I was only 14 when I went on my mission trip, but experiencing that such a young age has shaped me for who I am. I was involved in three mission trips, which all occurred in the States, but in all three-mission trips I helped people who I believe needed it most. I was proud of what I did and I think it was something that not a lot of people did at my age. One of my biggest motivators were the people I was helping. After going on my first trip, I had bonded with others and had made me realize what the real world is like outside a small town in Iowa.…
When volunteering at West Minnehaha it made me realize things that I didn’t pay attention to before going in. The point was to build relationships, problem solve, what to do in a conflict situation, and step outside of my comfort zone. I learned how to do every single one of those things. I realized that the kids are in need of someone who they can look up to and a dependable person who they can count on. For example, I was looking after a few kids that were doing homework and when walking around I hear a conversation of two kids.…
When I joined my high school’s chapter of National Honor Society, I didn’t know what to expect. I knew only that it involved community service and improvement projects. After joining, I decided to run for office within the group to gain experience in assisting large groups of people. My work as communication secretary involved being at every NHS project, officer meeting, and at a wide variety of community service projects so I could communicate my experiences with the rest of the members. I had served as an officer for almost a year when our faculty adviser’s employment was terminated unexpectedly.…
For the family interview I choose to interview my mom Laura Mahlich. I choose to interview her because she is the main person my sisters and I always turn to when we have an issue or when we need someone to talk to. When being home over the weekend I asked her if she would like to sit down with me and answer interview questions about how our family communicates and interacts with one another. I asked ten open-ended questions that lead to a long discussion and talk about our family’s communications skills.…
and she said maybe and she said,”Maybe, me and your dad don't really have the money right now but maybe next year.” I begged and begged her until she said yes and the next day I was so excited to tell my friend.…
Intergenerational Interview Paper Introduction The person that I interviewed was my mother, Catherine Scurlark. I thought I knew everything there was to know about her, but after this interview I feel like I have a much better perception about who she actually is and how the impact of events has shaped her into the woman that she is today. My mom is 50 years of age – according to Erikson’s Stages of Psychosocial Development, that puts her in the middle adulthood (generativity vs. stagnation) category.…
When I first reached out to her about completing this interview I was more than nervous, petrified would be a more accurate adjective. Of course she was happy to help and complete the interview, but this did not calm my nerves any. When we finally set up the time and met I was nervous all over again, I had even rehearsed…
Like I have said before, I am proud to be a First Generation student. I feel like we are the minority, though. I am glad that I have a classroom full of people that I have something in common with. With being the minority, it is sometimes hard to make connections with people. I feel like some people look down on First Generation students and others think that it is very cool.…
For this particular assignment I decided to interview my mother, asserting her generation would be significantly different from mine, especially in the concept of communication and society roles. I decided to conduct the interview Friday afternoon, and just after 45minutes I got more information then what I could imagine. I asked my mother certain questions such as what experiences shaped her childhood, to what expectations did society or cultural media have on young women. However after these leading questions or conversation got more depth, as in to analyzing how different my childhood was compared to hers especially with social media, and the effects it has in not only my generation, but also future generations to come. One aspect of…
At first getting to meet was complicated. Our schedules conflicted so much, so I was happy we had a day set aside to meet. Throughout the interviewing process, I noticed she had good listening skills and kept good eye contact with me. The experience I shared with her was moving out of my mother’s house and becoming independent. I felt comfortable being interviewed about my topic.…
The person I choose to interview was my mother Consuelo Mendez. She is 42 years old, which puts her in the middle adulthood stage. She grew up in a Mexican household with a huge family. She has nine sisters and one brother. She was only able to attend school up until her sixth grade, since she had to go help my grandpa in the field.…
The Interview The interview process went well. Even though I am familiar with this family, I still conducted the interview professionally. I started out by stating my name, that I am a Bachelor of Nursing Student and that the purpose of the interview is to learn more about the family and that everything discussed will be confidential. I began by asking Melissa questions on the structure and composition of her family, and I drew out a rough draft of a genogram as she was answering my questions and providing me with information.…
I decided to interview my mom for this paper because she has had a significant role in my upbringing and she means a lot to me. Since my mom and I are very close, like best friend status, I already knew a lot about her which made the interviewing process much easier. My mom and I share a lot of the same views on many issues but have differing views on a few, especially under the diversity category. I live at home with my mom and father and so I see my mom everyday which is one reason why our viewpoints are similar, so we can both avoid cognitive dissonance and it makes the day to day living more manageable.…
