When the boys start chanting about killing the pig, Ralph started to change and want to get to the pig too. The author describes, "The desire to squeeze and hurt was over-mastering,” (Golding 114). After being on the island for so long, it was not human nature that was making him have the desire to kill. Being around the savages and all of the violence on the island was beginning to rub off on him and that is what was taking over him. This shows that evil is nurture, not nature.
