Will we become like the humans onboard the Axiom in the movie Wall-E? If so, how long do we have to change our predicament? From the information collected, we are probably headed in the direction the humans in Wall-E are now. The movie Wall-E may just be a science fiction movie, but our reality certainly has a lot of parallels with it. One parallel is that there's a link between the advancement of technology and the growing percent of people who are obese. Those chubby humans in the movie became obese because they became consumed in their technology. Humanity right now is becoming heavily dependent on technology, and it's most likely impossible to wean ourselves from it completely. However, we can train ourselves to use technology in moderation. Most of the negative effects technology causes is because it is used too much these days, but the more technology advances, the more humans overuse it. In the next five years, we can expect these effects to become more defined in society. Text claw might become an official health condition, or the next generation might become more socially isolated outside of school. In the next ten or fifteen years, we can expect to see even more health issues and maybe even a decline in academics because of the way technology causes humans' to gain shorter attention spans and lose their focus easier.
