This paper will explore the philanthropic misadventure of Mark Zuckerberg, Co-founder of Facebook, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and then Mayor Cory Booker. They created the Foundation for Newark’s Future, to improve the Newark School system by infusing 100 million dollars. I will explore the leadership structure, players, challenges, and decisions, develop thoughts and opinions on the roles of the leadership, the leadership structure, and the leadership strategy in this endeavor. I will explain how it was potentially responsible, for its failure. I will critique the leadership elements of this case study from crisis and strategic management perspectives. Newark is the most populous city of New Jersey, the population in 2010 was 277,140 (Newark, New Jersey, n.d.). The racial distribution in 2010 was predominantly Black 52.4%, followed by Hispanic at 33.8% (Newark, New Jersey, n.d.). The number of households with female as head was 27,347 or 28.9% .
