Before I saw the huge impact that a nurse can have on a person’s health and well-being, I had no idea that that was what I wanted to do. I had previously thought that maybe I wanted to be a physician, because I wanted to help people and help them to be healthy. After I started my job, however, that profession quickly changed when I saw who was really doing the most healing and having the greatest impact. It wasn’t just seeing what a big impact nurses had, it was also seeing how that made them feel. All of the nurses that I have had contact with take such pride in their work and they are very fulfilled by it.
In the end, it was a combination of both personal experience and what I experienced through working with nurses that really convinced me that nursing was the profession that I was meant to go into. I wouldn’t want to live in a world without nurses, that is for sure. Nurses are the glue that keeps the healthcare field from falling apart. They truly are vital to health and welfare of this world. Without nurses there to care for patients, there would be a lot less patients to ever be cared
