1. I will learn to follow a course syllabus. The purpose of a syllabus is to layout the semester’s work, in and outside the classroom, for the student by the professor. A syllabus contains basic information, such as course name, location, credit hours, instructor information, required texts, prerequisites, course description, and provides course purpose. I will learn to create a calendar of assignments. This will help me to organize my assignments since I take many courses. Not all the midterms or final assignments are due around the same time, so I must plan and my calendar allows me to do just that. In my anthropology course, different parts of the final project are due on different days throughout the semester. 1. I will develop college writing skills to write well-organized essays by planning my essay using pre-writing techniques, including outlines. In English 1010, brainstorming is used part of the pre-writing techniques to help the students take the information they have at hand, and attempt to consolidate the information into an outline. After brainstorming and collecting all the information to have on one sheet, or more, my professor encourages me to start my outline. Outlines give me a better look on what my essay will look like and helps me to condense the information I must fit the essay I am writing. 2. I will develop college writing skills to write well-organized essays by rereading my text, myself as well as using peer review for editing and proofreading my work. I find this step in the writing process extremely helpful in figuring out what ideas I need to expand, or what part I may need to take out. My professor will ask the class to do peer-editing, and then the professor would review it themselves. After that, they return my paper and I work until the due date to fix and improve the
