Forgiveness gives the Old Testament significance in modern life. One of the best representations of this is the story of Joseph. When his brothers sold him to the Ishmaelites who were heading to Egypt he was sold into slavery for Potiphar since he was the only educated slave he was soon promoted to head slave. He was then framed and sent to prison. Joseph worked hard and did everything perfectly because God was with him.“Joseph's master took him and put him in prison, the place where the king's prisoners were confined. But while Joseph was there in the prison, the Lord was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden. So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there.” (Genesis 39: 20-23). While he was there he told two of the Pharaoh’s officials their dreams and they both came true. Two years had passed and one of them only then remembered Joseph when the pharaoh had a dream and needed an answer, when Joseph told him what it meant he put him in a position where he was the second most powerful man in the world. Through Joseph always looking forward and becoming very important it is clear that there are things shown in ancient scriptures that are relevant for us today.
