Throughout the time of Feudal Japan, the might or warriors was spread throughout the nation. The legendary tales of Samurai and Bushido fill the text books of Japanese children today. Talk of Honor and peace is widely spread throughout Generations. However, the mention of the trials that Japan had to face in order to become what it is today are hardly mentioned. More specifically, the talk of the small Civil wars that broke out within medieval Japan. Below the topic of one war in particular, The Onin War, will be explored and recapped. There will also be mention of the Damages that Feudal Japan would take as a result of the war among itself.
As a brief explanation; Feudal Japan was a time in Japan where Samurai, honor-bound warriors sword to a “shogun” or general, and Bushido, the samurai’s code of conduct and way of life, ruled. It was at this time that Japan's military faction became involved in a series of wars both among itself and among the western invaders that had spread throughout the land. Both wars involved a power struggle for freedom among the states within the country, as well as the individual ideals those states had towards their way of life, as well as the way of life of those they fought against. However unlike the American Civil war, the Onin War would only end in a stalemate, leaving the victor to be decided by those who participated within. Though the war raged on for ten years, there was no clear victor, as to many warring factions were involved and the shogunate was all but disbanded.
