While statistics indicate that one third of the adult population in Canada will experience a panic attack at some point in their lives, the majority of these people will neither require help nor develop a panic disorder. Panic attacks can occur independent of a panic disorder when someone is feeling overly stressed out about a specific situation or key life event. For example, a woman married for thirty years goes to a lawyer for the first time to commence a marital separation after finding out about her spouse’s infidelity whereby en route she experiences a panic attack.
