The code recognises that nursing practice is not restricted to the provision of direct clinical care. Nursing practice extends to a variety of settings like working in a non-clinical relationship with clients, working in management, leadership, governance, administration, education, research, advisory, regulatory, policy development roles or other roles that impact on safe, effective delivery of services in the profession and/or use of the nurse’s professional skills. This means that that every nurse or midwife must follow and gain a good understanding of what’s expected so that they are aware that they are entering a profession that carries with it great privilege and responsibility as well as pride. It sets out a written set of guidelines that are operative beliefs to show staff and management a labour toward a common vision. It is mainly a guide of principles used to assist professionals conduct their business fairly and with integrity. A code of ethics file may outline the duty and values so that the business or corporation stays a safe and respect organization. It informs us how professionals are meant to approach these problems, and that the ethical principles that are based on the cooperation’s core values and that the morals to which the professional is held.
Nurses are accountable for providing their patients with high-class care. These professionals are faced with challenges that are confronted with ethical issues every day, and they have to make many decisions; this is why they should be familiar with the codes of conduct so they are alert of their accountabilities while they are at work. Confidentiality is a main issue when focusing on the medical practice. It is their duty of care to provide the patients with care and privacy, this requires the hospital workplace and other members of the multidisciplinary care team, to withhold any personal information, unless told to by a higher staff educator or the patient has specified
