Bags, suitcases and clothes were all scattered around the house. We were all trying to get ready for the upcoming trip and we were so unprepared. Us kids, we’re just stuffing shirts, pants, socks and whatever we needed and mom and dad were ready a day before, but we were not, sadly. Zipping up the last of suitcases, we headed to Burlington coat factory for ski pants and coats. We made payment on the clothing and went back home. That night we were aroused, fired up for the trip and the snow. We couldn’t have anticipated for what type of journey was ahead of us. If only we knew what was coming.

I’m just ten years old, I thought that I was going to get myself killed. “Scared?” Dad said with a soothing voice. I chuckle under my breath, “Yea, a little.” And with a smile all my fears fade away. “Come on.” Signaling for me to follow. I was at the edge with him, he was telling me what to do giving me tips, but then I was slowly moving forward without realizing it until it was too late. I was going down the slope. Faster and faster and then I was gone. But then I remembered what Dad said and so with that, I pressed on, fell a few times but got back up and made it down. “I did it, did you see me?” Dad scooted right next to me. “Yea, and you were great.” Hearing him say that filled me with so much joy. I kept trying and got really good at it. I lost my brothers and father awhile back, I attended to do that quite a lot, so I go back to the lodge for free hot chocolate they were giving out. It was cold outside and so I went in to warm up. I stayed in the lodge for a little while and then headed back out. Back on the mountain to ski one more time, not sure why, I just wanted to.
