Growing up playing sports I learned that hard work and persistence pays off and time and time again it has. I was working five days and nearly 40 hours a week at McDonalds causing me to become very efficient at my job. I was more and more confident every time I stepped into work and stressful situations because I was learning very quickly how to manage more tasks in a very busy, stressful, and fast paced environment. It wasn't long after I was hired that I was very quickly and efficiently working by myself doing multiple jobs. I soon became one of the fastest and most efficient employees at the restaurant. After about three months of working at McDonald's my hard work started to pay off. I had an eight hour shift ahead of me that Friday over the summer of 2015 which ended up being one of the busiest days of the year, not to mention the hottest. The temperature in the kitchen was a sweltering 90 degrees. Customers kept flowing through the door crashing ceaselessly on the cash register, like waves on a beach. Everyone was hot, sweat dripped down my brow and my feet ached, tired from all the rushing around. I was training the new employee, helping him with his jobs, all the while doing my own and accomplishing as much as I could for anyone else. He had a million and one questions about every task and I did my best to field his quires. Around the six hour mark in my shift, a manager became ill and could no longer work. The management asked me to step into her role; I readily stepped up to the challenge. I was doing jobs I had never tried before but I managed to adequately accomplish the task at hand. The managers took notice. Eventually the the rush was subsided and the managers pulled me aside. I was nervous, wondering if I had done something wrong. I was taken aback when they told me that I was one of the hardest working sixteen-year-olds that they had ever met and continued to express that they would like to promote me to the position of Crew Trainer. This was my proudest moment on the job as I was selected for a position that people much older and more experienced
