Can you imagine the difficulties of moving from one country to the other that very different to the original one? At age 14, I made a big decision, it was one of the hardest decision I had ever made in my life. I left China to start a new life in the United States with my parents. It was not long before I realized that I was, in many ways, different from all other people in the school. Besides language, we had many differences, included the way of thinking, the things that we were interested in. It was undoubtedly the most challenge thing came to my life. After I immigrated to Hawaii, my father put me in a school that almost no one could speak Chinese. He hoped that the environment would force me to learn English better. Because every time when I wanted to give up I always asked myself why did I start. The only way to make myself to insist is to remember the original purpose. During the time, I found another reason to hold me on. It was to help people in the Chinese course. People always asked me why are you take Chinese that you already well known. My respond was, “because I just wanted to.” I never told them it was because I knew the “pain” of studying another language and I want help people to go through the pain. After one semester ends, I didn’t ask my Dad to switch the school for me. I made a lot friends in the school. We helped each other learning unfamiliar languages. Since I had improved my English a lot, I decided to challenge myself by taking part-time jobs. I had two jobs, both were sales. My first job was selling jewelry and the second one was selling shoes in Crocs. The reason why that I chose to be sales was I am interested in marketing and advertising. The best way to know what the customer’s needs and wants was talking with them. The more you know the market, the better plan you can
